Madrasa of Husain Baiqara
Herat, Afghanistan

The madrasa was built during the reign of Sultan Husayn Bayqara (1469-1506) and contains his tomb. It and most of the other Timurid structures in the Musalla Complex were largely destroyed in 1885 by British-backed Afghan forces in fighting with Russian forces over control of the border. The ruins sustained additional damage in the earthquakes of 1931 and 1951.
